Well I have a hard time bitc-ing too much as I flew right through the entry and got the slip I wanted. Butttttt
I complained last year that the sponsorships were not a good idea when you only have limited dockage and I will say it again. I don't think I'm crazy to say if it continues this will be a run of 40 sponsors and that's it. I will say I get the whole idea behind the sponsorships and it is a great way to raise a lot of money for the charity but it comes at a cost. When "average Joe" can't get a slip but yet is still asked to pony up $1000 to do the run it has to make you question how long this will go on. I think we've done this run 5 or 6 yrs in a row and said last yr I thought it would be the last but when our friends said they were going back I caved in and entered but I'm still not sure we will be there.

For you I would get one of my window units from up stairs and let you use it. We can make it work thru the hatch! You may have to put some gas in my generator though, if you plug into the garage it will blow the breaker.

Here's a couple of suggestions, Raise the sponsorship to 5500.00 or limited 20 slips for sponsorship and put them put them up for auction with a starting bid of $5500.00. I have no dog in the fight because I drive a Fishing Boat.

This way we can find out who the real PLAYERS ARE.

To the BT team-

I hope my comments weren't taken in a negative light, but I was severely frustrated at 3 am in the middle of the ocean.

May I respectfully request to be included in the registration process planning for next year?

While I'm not an IT genius, I have a clear idea of what may work and I think it is well along the lines of what others are thinking.

Locking down the slip needs to be step 1. Period. Otherwise you end up in a vicious circle.

Looking forward to another year, I'm sure it will work itself out, but we need to do better.

My .02

I don't think selecting the slip first is the answer.

But I don't agree with having to fill the entire form out AGAIN if the slip is already taken.

That was NOT supposed to be the case with this new registration

It should be:

Fill out registration
select a slip
if its booked
select another slip

Most online forms that I've dealt with will retain all the information and highlight the cell(s) with required missing information. Re-entering every bit of information for one missing cell is a very poorly designed web site. And I can see how frustrating it is when the clock is ticking away and the limited number of slips are slipping away.

In prior years there was a list of participants so you could see what "number" to put in, if I understand correctly this was shooting blind, put in a "number" and hope it wasn't taken

Or we get away from picking slips. They go in order of registration time stamp (entering the code)

But I do think locking down the slip first is the answer. It levels the playing field, and allows people to fill in their information.

Just like tickets to a show, etc.
