It's not everyday someone walks up and says "You Must Be The Famous Dock Holiday"!!!!!!!!! I appreciate that! Love the Active Thunder, very nice boat. You know, I think I forgot to mention that brand also. Oops, please forgive me. We had a very nice time. I paid for the slip at Grider, but did not use it. We ended up with a room at Jamestown and they helped me out with a slip there. The lake is awesome, the run was very nice, but ROUGH. Will I be back? HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care! |
The Cumberland Run sounded great. I was so disappointed that I didn't make it. Thanks for all the well wishes guys I am doing better. Doc did a great job with pictures. Thanks Anthony and Tosha for being a great crew you did an awesome job keeping Doc in line. Sorry, I didn't get to meet all our new friends, Doug, Betty and see some old friends, Ron, Michelle, Keith and Lisa, Sonny. Doug and Betty I am looking forward to meeting you guys and see that awesome cig for myself. We will certainly be there next year and hope for good weather. Dock Holiday's Misses.

What an awesome weekend. Great pics Dock and I think I will only add one of my favorites. When we were back at the falls I never did answer the question about what I liked best about the weekend. Roger always puts on a great run and the boats that show up are impressive but the thing I liked best is meeting new friends and putting faces to board names.
Boat Princess looking foreward to meeting you and glad to hear you are feeling better. We may meet before the run next year. Mark was really working hard on us to go to the Jacksonville run and Emerald Coast. birdog, It's about time we met. Thanks for introducing me to your engine guy. If you get a chance would you email me his phone #. No way was going to interrupt his sunday to look at my carbs. I need to check some things out and then give him a call. Maybe we can meet on the river some night. We are doing another COPS run in a couple weeks out of Chicago if you want to go with us let me know. |
Doc:
Thanks for sharing all of your pictures. Sorry I did not get to spend more time with ya. I had an incredible time. The houseboat you see me tied next to belongs to my friends Bill & Cindy Costoplos from I.N. they keep it up at Alligator Dock. Nine of us stayed on the boat and it was really neat to stay at State Dock where all the action was. RE: Friday night-it was on Thur., Fri. and Saturday. Long ride home on Sunday. We ran in the 100+ class and did pretty good. Got passed by the big boys but held our own otherwise. Sonny B. |
Nice pictures Dock, glad you guys had a good time. I hope Tasha didn't get tossed around too bad. Get everything put back together, because if you thought that poker run was rough. Wait till you are in 160 mph winds in a hurricane this weekend.

After the 6 footers in Savannah while Isabell was in town it cannot be too bad! And that was in a Fountain! I think we may have to pull in the rain Saturday going down, but the weather should be real good Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. If it looks too bad, we will just pull father South. St. Augustine should be nice about that time! See ya P.S. John Kerry has his truck for sale. |
Sent you a PM Doug.........Get ahold of Merlin540 about those props....I never tracked him sown Sat for you..He was staying on a housebout on the lake somewere.
What are ya tryin to say Dock ??? :D :D |
I talked to his wife at the ramp and then him up top while we wiped are boats off. He got me all set up. Thank You, Doug

What did you think of the hardware? Looks like you had a great time. Hope the wife makes next year. Maybe next year I'll be in another boat if all the hard work pays off from missing this years run. |

I was very disappointed that you and the wife did not make the run. We looked for you guys! Lake Cumberland is a VERY nice lake. Growing up in Hot Springs, Arkansas I am use to Corp Lakes. My dad had a couple of house boats up on Lake Quachita (pronouced "Wash A Taw" after the indians). I like the lakes that do not have any houses on them. We have done six poker runs this year and I rank the Lake Cumberland run a seven. Jacksonville is my favorite and by far the best poker run on the East coast. We enjoyed Cumberland, but it is a hard pull, my truck is in the shop for brakes this morning. The ramps are steep and the parking is not that good. The run is VERY ROUGH! They did a good job with the water taxi to Jamestown and the band Saturday we great. The food was okay. They fed you a lot, but just did not give you much! As for the hardware, It was the BEST. I give them a TEN "10" for getting the big boys out for the run! The wife is a very special lady. Most wifes would have made their husband stay home. She made me go. WELL, maybe she just wanted to get rid of me!!!!!!!! As a famous Governor once said, "We Will Be Back"! See you soon. Doc |
I knew it would be tight for ya and a hard pull. I think you would have had "better" parking at the State Dock ramp. All ramps are steep at the lake. Grider Hill has the least space available and I'm surprised you were able to use their ramp with ease other than the incline of the ramp. I would have thought it would have been extremely tight for you there!
I am happy you have a great wife in "Mrs. Holiday". Will you make it back for next year?! |
Hey, Thanks Dock ! ....Thats the ole girl alright !!!
Had a ball in that snotty water ! Got to beat a lot of boats i NEVER can beat down there !!:D :D I think Doc used Jtown to launch ?........It realy is the easiest for bigger boats unless you go to Connley... |
We did use Grider Hill, as did many others including that big Talon cat!
We came up Hwy 127 (Pig Trail) off of I-40 in Crossville, Tennessee. When you get to Hwy 90 the entrance to Grider Hill and 76 Falls is right there. I had a guy tell me it was a good ramp so we went right over there and did not have any problems at all. The only bad thing is we had to park about a mile from the ramp. My son drove the truck and trailer up there and they shuttled him back down. But Sunday when we pulled out we had to walk all the way up there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
That is definately one of the runs that I would like to do!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully next year !!!!!!:D :D :D :D |
My bad !........Thought you were at J-Town

Dock,
When I brought my Thunder home from the factory I took it straight to Cumberland from Florida. I thought I saw a short cut on my map and if you want a pig trail I can show you one. Has anyone ever heard of Signal Mountain, well I have now. It is nonstop kiss your a$$ corners up and back down the other side. I should have known something was wrong the way people were looking at me when I started up the thing. I was glad I had my f350 and a new trailer with electric brakes. |
Doc,
AWESOME shot on that Baja in post #188. You pulled the trigger and snapped that shot at best milisecond in time! :) |
Anybody have the pic of Parkers 35 Fountain Launching ?
That pic should make the mags ! |
Wow! Thanks for taking the time to post all those Dock! Must have taken forever.
Did you email those pics to JR? I spent this afternoon cruising around Lake Erie in that same 30 Outlaw. |

I wish I could take credit for that shot put it is not mine. These last few I posted were copied from another site. It is a very good shot however. I did get an email from the owner of that boat today, it is the one with the custom engines. He says he has a buyer for the boat! |

He said that the 30 he had was not that fast. If I understood him right it was one of the first they built and was a little heavy? I think he had a really good time at Cumberland! |
Dock,
Thanks for posting all the great shots! Looks like it was a great weekend. I think I may need to make a road trip next year. Do they have a cut off on how many boats? Dan |
Dan I tried to get you to come down last year. It is well worth your drive. I will say though you may have one problem. The run starts before noon and from what I here you can't get up that early.:D
|
Nice pics
