I'm pretty sure I'm going. Looking into flights, so far non are direct to Miami. So its a pain in the butt flight wise. I'm might pop over to the Dominican Republic after the show! :1bounce

drpete3 12-08-2011 12:59 PM

Im flying into Ft lauderdale Taxi is $75 to south beach and got direct flights for less than flights w stops.

Thats what we did for years, stayed on Harbor Beach and went to the show every other day. Little more laid back then South Beach.

koenig 12-08-2011 04:12 PM

I can't wait until Miami. Couldn't get a direct flight so its a pain in the butt to fly into Miami, but I'll survive. I'm thinking about going to the Dominican Republic from Miami. Have a mini vacation!

Miami, US to Dominican Republic is 766.76 miles. A new Nor-Tech CC with a bladder would make it!!

hotjava66 12-08-2011 06:01 PM

Anyone know of reasonably cheap/safe place to get a room nearby just to crash in for a night?

not much is cheap in that area!! esp when the show is on!! captive audience!! dif ways 2 look at it! stay a ways out & have 2 drive in 2 the show/park'n/party'n/drive'n back/rental car/etc!! stay closer/pay more/walk or short cab/no drive'n worries/party like a rock star?????

joshj1980 12-08-2011 06:37 PM

my wife just got the week approved from work for vacation so we are in. this is my first miami show ever what area of the city is the best to stay in for the show, south beach? were thinking of coming in on wed and staying till sunday all she is gonna want to do is lay out by the pool and get a tan and all im gonna want to do is drool over boats and boobies so if that helps narrow down the criteria

I see that after checking online. I am driving over on Thursday from Marco Island, leaving the wife and kids there so can only stay for the day and maybe overnight. All I need is fallback place to sleep it off if the party is rockin, dont need a 2 hour drive back after partying all afternoon. My first time so I am pretty excited. Oh well, I will find something, more than worth it from everything I have heard.

I usually book hotels at the last minute on priceline because get pretty good deals this way. But it looks like hotels in Miami get booked fast for the show. So I'll look at booking today!

If ya got the coin,we've stayed at "the hotel" in SB which is nice. Their rooftop pool is great overlooking the ocean and the service is pretty good though rooms small. I couldn't find the deal there as in years past but found one at the Savoy. It's a cab to the convention but right on beach and they got a couple of pools that the wife likes.

Everything in Miami during the boat show is full

koenig 12-09-2011 08:23 PM

Looking at Hotels tonight. I'll have a rental car so no need to be close to the show. I'm checking out the Hotel in South Beach.

MMarsha 12-09-2011 08:29 PM

Big party at MM54 after the show!! :stirpot

drejustice 12-16-2011 02:45 PM

I used www.otel.com for the 1st time to book my hotel and saved over 1K versus booking direct to the hotel for our upgraded room. I was a bit skeptical at first but after booking called the hotel and confirmed my reservation was real and valid.

If U R stay'n in SB I would recommend no car rental, walk or short cab around!!! lotza traffic, parking issues, party'n issues!! etc/etc, not worth it!!!
good luck!

Maybe I'll skip the rental car. But I like having a car on vacation even if I don't use it that much.
