Copy and paste of todays email from Boyne

Dear Past Registrant of Boyne Thunder

Even though currently Lake Charlevoix’s surface has 10 – 14 inches of ice, the Boyne Thunder Poker Run will be here before you know it. This summer, we will celebrate the 15th year for Boyne Thunder which is set for July 13th and 14th.

Although not formally part of the event, there will again be a Fun-Run to Bay Harbor for lunch on Thursday July 12th and a reception later that evening at Boyne Mountain Resort sponsored by American Custom Marine. The Poker Run Village comes alive on Friday morning July 13th before the slips in the Boyne City marina become available at noon.

There will be a slight change to the course this year with the first card stop just south of the marina in Northport before heading to Elk Rapids and back to Charlevoix for lunch. The second leg of the course will consist of card stops in Harbor Springs, Bay Harbor, and Horton Bay at the Champagne Cruise. This course covers some of the most beautiful water and scenery anywhere. All the information you will need to plan for Boyne Thunder is available on our website www.boynethunder.com. If you plan to stay in the area during Boyne Thunder, Boyne Mountain is offering a discount code for lodging, please use: 718BTHUN

Registration will be slightly different this year with open registration beginning on Thursday, March 1st at 9:00 a.m. There will be no early registration with passcodes. Due to the tremendous growth of Boyne Thunder, the number of passcodes sent out to past registrants far exceeded the registration spots that were actually available. The committee felt that having an early registration was sending a false message of “special consideration” therefore the practice will not continue.

The Boyne Thunder fleet will consist of 120 boats this year. Sponsorships with boats/docks are currently being sold until February 23rd although corporate sponsorships will be available until sometime in May when the Boyne Thunder printing schedule is created. At registration, boaters will purchase “one ticket” for $725 which is entry for one boat in the Boyne Thunder event. This will include entry in to all events for the captain and first mate. In order to simplify the registration process, minimal information will be collected at this time. We will need basic information including name, address, phone number, email, payment information, boat length, boat name and boat type. After registration is complete, boaters will be contacted via phone in the order that their registration was received to choose dock space and/or be notified that, based on their registration number, they are not guaranteed a specific dock space. Please make sure the phone number and email submitted is accurate.

The Boyne Thunder organizing committee looks forward to seeing you this summer. Until then, if you have questions or need information, please feel free to email boynethunder@gmail.com or through the Boyne Thunder web page.

Our best,

I can't believe it hasn't sold out yet. Last year it was done in like 30 minutes or something.

jriggs 03-05-2018 08:27 AM

It has been tuff to get a spot for the last 4 years.

Wrinkleface 03-05-2018 11:44 AM

Bob said he heard 1 person got reg’d 3 X’s!! Wonder if they got it straightened away & opened a couple spots?????:dunno

phragle 03-05-2018 12:23 PM

You may find more of that... A common stratagy in open registrations like that is to give a few friends your info... Than when the bell rings you have several people trying to secure you a spot at the same time. Hopefully one is successful. If you get registered multiple times just say oops was only supposed to be once or sell the extra spots. Just like getting tickets for a concert that will sell out.

Heads up to the new guys on here, if you can’t bring a boat up, bring up a hot rod and park it on the street Friday night.
