You missed out Jay, at the poker run drivers meeting Thursday night in Miami they announced they had 3 helicopters and only 2 photographers, asked the group if anyone was interested.

Helicopter luck

That would have been fun for the Friday run. I had considered renting a helo for Thursday because of the large number...

but... the weather had been so good that week, and I was wanting to experiment with the cablecam thing that I stuck with the perfectly lit, very stable bridge method to make sure I got everyone.

Didn't work out on Friday, tho- ran into parade preparations in Homestead and hung in traffic for half an hour... missed everyone but the last 3 and that was from the edge of the bridge.

best laid plans and all that. sorry I missed you guys.

I almost took them up on it but I figured this might be my one chance in life to actually do the run on a cool boat. I was nervouse for the guys in hammertime. From my angle they looked they were about to get smacked with a rotor.

I talked to MC and he was impressed with the pilot. That can add a lot to the show.

Thought about this... the reason they needed 3 choppers was because of the number of boats. One chopper can cover maybe 30 boats if the pilot and shooter are on the same page.

No way one person can cover that many boats, especially if you are sharing the bird with a video guy. Granted the shots can be dramatic, but I'm happy with that bridge and knowing that I got everyone.

I think it's because I have this thing- I don't like to feel left out, and I don't want to do that to anyone if I can help it.
