ya.. Heres a hint. If you arent the only one that tows with the truck, check to make sure that the ball is the right size.. NEVER EVER assume that something hadn't been swapped since the last time it towed a boat... a very scarey lesson that could have turned into a very deadly and costly lesson..

So you found out that safety chains get crossed for a reason.

Ouch!

also found out that safety chains ONLY keep the boat out from under the truck because the safety wire on the brake release doesnt catch unless the chains give way.. once the electrical plug in pulls out, the boat goes under the truck if its not on the hitch.. and safety chains also grind through.. thats when the brake wire catches and pray to God the boat is pointing straight down the highway and not off to the side..

holy shuckin fit!!! were there tires left on that trailer? Glad to hear everyone was OK. reading that made my heart skip and that pic is scary. Whenever I trailer a long distance I check my chains, trailer tongue, and tires at EVERY stop.

so do we.. and boat straps and hydraulic level, everything.. the one thing you cant hardly check (while the trailer is ON it) is that you have the right size ball... We shoulda double checked to make sure we had the right size hitch. The trucks owner had been using it to pull a 2'' hitch trailer during the week. Not his fault in the least! this was out side of tupelo on that new highway. we hit a huge rollercoaster section on a bridge transition. it was so rough it spilled our drinks in the AIR RIDE CAB and when the boat hit it, it levered the front of the trailer UP and off the ball.. when it came back down, it hit the ball and then dug nose first into the two week old, hot pavement..

Bring your azz to the run next year. It is as good as they get. :nudie

Wow, Cale... man that looks scary. There are some VERY bad stretches of that freaking road down in the swampland. When I moved to California a few years ago, I was pulling a 27 with a UHaul truck and hit a patch of concrete slabs that were like concrete steps at the expansion joints and it snapped the trailer tongue. Thank Neptune for safety chains.

Ok, back to the boats.
I got a slideshow of the Jacksonville shots up here.

For the same $ I can boat 1 weekend or all month- as awesome as that run looks I have to opt for the latter. I can only wish I had the cheese laying around to do both!

I can say we all had a blast, (would have been better if I could have :booze1:-was on anti-biotics) met some very cool people, and the run was alot of fun..some serious hardware....NOW...I WANT A CAT.:1bounce
